These days, every compressor has a 12 dB Decay knob, to make it possible to reduce the overall transient response of the effect. Most compressors also come with a compressor setting with a 3 dB threshold and Ratio. You can adjust the threshold to have a threshold of only 1% or less. Since the threshold makes the compressor react late, it is perfect for muddling the top of a mix without smearing the low-end completely.
Some compressors have a Preamp setting, which is activated by a button on the back of the pedal. When activated, the waveforms are raised in steps depending on the setting. This can add some extra grit to a compressor if you dial it in.
Some compressors have a Drive setting. When activated, the channel is raised in steps, thus causing the pitch to drop. This causes the compressor to be harder and can be useful for many purposes. Most compressors also come with a Multi setting, which is activated by a button on the back of the pedal. When activated, doing a step up or down in a band causes all channels to be affected.
Multiple Band Comp is available with the Hyb. The low bands are compressed independently of the other bands, thereby adding grit and warhorses to the low end. The High bands are only raised when a signal is present in that band. This feature is often used to add some nice saturation without affecting the low end. d2c66b5586
