I am happy to hear that you are having so much fun with your lessons. For learning to read music and playing in a youth orchestra, you are doing very well. I especially like the way that you switched to a teacher who had more advanced students.
I am very happy to hear that you are enjoying your lessons and your love of music. I can't wait to see what you can do when you continue practicing. I can tell that you are a very determined person and that is a great attribute. I also love your story about learning to read music. You are very lucky that your parents supported you by buying you a violin. It sounds like you have found a great teacher at the conservatory you attended. I do hope that you continue to practice and learn as much as you can. The violin is a wonderful instrument and you can play a lot of beautiful music with it. I do wish you all the best with your lessons and your future. Good luck and keep up the hard work!
I am so happy that you are having fun with the music lessons. It is great to find someone who enjoys it as much as you do. I was told when I was a kid that I would play violin if I practiced enough. I told my parents that I would stop if I didn't like it but they told me that if I practiced enough I would find I liked it. So I kept at it for a few more years and found I did like it. Later when I was a young adult and a few years older than you, I studied in a university setting where I was required to play violin and by the time I graduated I could say that I enjoyed playing it. I still played occasionally with a small orchestra but really loved it when I was taking lessons. In fact, I have played violin and viola in ensembles for the past six years. My husband and I have been looking for a violin teacher for us and I would love to have someone who is as enthusiastic as you are and can teach to our level of ability. We have learned a lot along the way but, if I can learn to read music and play better than I do now at age 36, I have nothing but potential! Your story is inspiring and I wish you much success in the coming years. I love your story. Good luck and happy learning!
December 31, 2009 at 07:17 AM ยท lori: The first 2 books are really good. They start off with basic chord concepts, then as the books progress you'll get into things like scales, and a few other things. I used them after I taught myself to read and I was able to play standard tunes. I have the third book, and I recommend it, but if you read the first two I'd say you're all set. I got the first two book from the library. I'm not sure where you can get them from nowadays. I'll check for you.
The second book is quite short but it is a quick read and a great introduction to the uke and blues. It contains everything you need to start playing the blues on the uke. Fast forward by typing -b- in the search bar, the page will scroll down. From there tap the first link - 'How to Play Blues'.
The fourth book on the list is all about learning guitar, and it contains everything you need to get started. The book teaches you the basics and explains the guitar in more detail. Throughout the book you will find questions which will help you decide if this is the right book for you. 827ec27edc
