There are ways to get osx running on older machines... depends how old of course, but have you looked at prices for used g3's? They're giving this stuff away.Anyway, I just wanted to add that having another computer running osx on the network is a huge advantage in all kinds of ways. It's kind of off topic in this thread, I just mention it because I find that before you jump through a hundred hoops and spend money on a linksys printserver, you might look into this solution which will also solve some other problems down the line.
Having just spent almost all day wrestling with my old p4 socket A motherboard, I copied most of the config files, grub menu.lst and renamed grub to reflect my name as admin. I installed xp on a post it note and tested to see if i could boot to it (ie launch the setup). I opened the cdrom and i can see it there but with a magic red X next to it (as is usual). I'll open it in a few days to see if i can do anything about it.
Fresh off the boat from london, I've only just about had a chance to settle in, but time has been unkind to my post. I'm a victim of'maintenance mode', but I've got a bootable gentoo disk to rescue me for now.
I'm running gentoo and I'm learning to use it pretty well. But I was getting up to speed with gentoo, and been told that there was a bunch of stuff pre-installed that I don't actually need. Like, sys-manager.
Has anyone ever tried to get a Apple Macintosh to dual boot with Linux? I have a G3 Ti with 192mb of RAM and an ATI Rage Pro 512. I want to start with Linux Mint 6 and then start working my way up to a full install of MacOS X. Any tips or direction would be much appreciated! d2c66b5586
